The 24 Hour Dog
Publication design
For this project we are required to choose one of Jeanette Winterson’s short stories from the book The World and Other Places, I chose The 24 Hour Dog, and make it into a publication. We are required to identify a “concept” from the short story and create an art direction board that is influenced by a design movement - my chosen movement is the Surrealist art movement. The imagery used in conjunction with the publication can either be typographic based, photographic or illustrative depending on the style and movement chosen. We were also asked to consider how colour, typeface choice, punctuation marks, texture, etc. can be used to make the text interesting without taking away from the story.
